Why oh why can I not make cookies! They always turn into this weird flat mess with chocolate chips sticking up out of them. I HATE making cookies! They come out of the oven all puffy and normal looking, and as they cool.... phtttt.
I've tried using crisco, margarine, butter... no help! I don't use a hot pan, I get a new cold one every time. What else? Any ideas?
Um, doesn't Tara have cookie issues too? I have a great recipe that has never failed me:
ReplyDeleteBEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES EVER!
¾ cups sugar
¾ cups packed brown sugar
1 cup butter (soft)
1tsp vanilla
1 lg egg
Blend top ingredients together.
Then add :
2 ¼ cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 Bag chocolate chips (2 cups)
Bake 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
You want to take out of oven before brown
Makes 4 dozen
Optional: substitute 1 cup of chocolate chips for 1 cup of butterscotch or Mint chips(great for Christmas time)
Good Luck Jinny, let me know how it turns out!
oh, I forgot....I use a cookie scoop...it makes the cookies a little smaller but perfect! You can get them target, pampered chef, linen and things...
ReplyDeleteI always add about a teaspoon of baking powder in addition to the baking soda. It has seemed to help my cookies stay plump. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, they do look kinda flat, but they still look scrumptious! It's the taste that matters. :)
ReplyDeleteI use half shortening and half margarine, and chill the dough slightly before I bake cookies. That said, I still get flat batches on occasion regardless of what I do;)
ReplyDeletedon't melt the butter, cut it into the sugar and let the dough sit in the fridge for at least 30 min. before baking them. they should turn out plump!
ReplyDeleteChips Ahoy or your local bakery… hahaha, JK. Your cookies look like they have extra chocolate chips in them; I like that.
